Personal Note from Matt
I met Jim at the Inza Coffee Open Mic run by Scott Walter. He played just before me, causing me all sorts of consternation. When I got up to play I mentioned to Scott that the "rule" was that you don’t put someone who sings better than me or plays better than me before me - let alone someone who does both. Since then, Jim and I have had some conversations and passed emails back and forth on the nature of the Arizona music scene for those of us performing original music.
These conversations with Jim have helped influence and direct my desire to create this showcase.
